Bio
Lisa Talbot is a Los Angeles-based artist whose practice is an experimental journey into her subconscious mind. Her artwork deals with the issues of her body, her mental state, and her spiritual quests. She works in still photography and video. Lisa works with mostly still-life photography, often building still lives that evolve. Her chosen objects reflect her interest in the ecology of her body, her mental and spiritual journey, and her interaction with Los Angeles and other places and people she interacts with. When she works outside of the medium of still life, her pieces are often in the backdrop of her beloved Los Angeles and its surrounding natural, beautiful, and diverse ecosystem. However, she sometimes uses other architectural, natural, or spiritually significant places as backdrops for her work. Her work provokes a sense of stepping beyond the limits of physicality into the realms of the spirit and the psyche. Her work has been shown at galleries such as the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, Laguna Art Museum, and Center for Contemporary Art in Santa Fe.
